A Strange Visitor

I found a strange visitor perched on top of the chicken coop the other morning.
I snapped some photos from inside the house since I didn't want to risk going outside to do so and scare the strange visitor off.
It was a rather fascinating bird!

It went through a full grooming process, which I tried to capture, but most of the photos turned out blurry because I was zoomed in too far and taking the shots through the window.

Before taking flight, it changed positions several times and then it was gone!
I have no clue as to what type of bird it was, but I think it was some kind of water bird by looking at its beak and legs.

It kind of looks like it has a smile on its face.
Maybe it was just grateful it found a place to stop and rest for a bit.
