Last weekend while I was sitting outside a hummingbird came to the flowers on the porch steps.
We haven't had a hummingbird sighting all summer, so I was excited!
It has been over a year since I have seen hummingbirds in our valley!
I hurried indoors and made some syrup and got out the feeder.
The feeder had only been up a few hours when I noticed there were three hummingbirds paying it a visit.
I grabbed my camera and planted myself on the patio chair to take photos.
I captured this little guy just over my head. He was fighting with another hummingbird over the feeder.
I sat for over an hour and took lots of photos.
At one point there were eight little hummers fighting for space at the feeder.
I think our valley is on their migratory path as we have had several different types of hummers come through over the past week. The big group is gone now, but I noticed this morning that a new variety has shown up.
I will have to go sit outside again with the camera to see what I can capture!
My Nana loved hummingbirds and I can remember many a summer sitting on her porch watching the many, tiny little hummers that paid a visit to her feeders.
My dad loves them too and will talk to the ones that visit their feeder.
Hummingbirds are tiny, little miracles in flight and so much fun to watch!
