Monday Monday

Mondays are not my favorite!
I don't really like them much at all!
I never understood what people meant when they would say, "I live for the weekend."
I SO get that saying now!
Not that I or we do anything wild or exciting on the weekends, but now, I do live for my "own" time to just be!
Having the job I have has opened my eyes to a lot of things!
Some of those things are good, others, not so much!
Ugh!

My weekend was quiet.
Enjoyed a couple of very nice, relaxing evenings in front of the fire!
Did the usual household chores.
We took my mom out to dinner on Saturday evening to celebrate her birthday.
She turned 83 years young on Friday!
I didn't have to cook!
The meal was good!
Bonus...I didn't have a gluten reaction to anything!
Best part...mom really enjoyed herself!
Smile!

Saturday morning I walked out the front door with camera in hand to snap a few pics.
On the way back in the house I noticed the rooster hanger by the door.
I see this hanger every day, but never once have I noticed its shadow before.
Cool!

Okay....gotta go make peace with Monday and move on with it!

On My Way and A Tune for Tuesday

It snowed here yesterday!
Roughly 3 inches or so!
It was pretty!
And then it melted!

On my way to work this morning this is the view that greeted me before I started up the hill out of the valley.
The sun was just peaking over the hill.
The scene made me think of a song.
It's a Beatles song, but Colbie Caillet covered it and well, I like it!
This song makes me SMILE!

Rows in the Snow

I missed the weekly Thursdays Things in a Row this week.
I even had photos to share from last Mondays brief snow storm.
I will share them now, my rows in the snow.

Paw prints in a row in the snow.
Firewood covered in snow in a row.

Outdoor solar lights hidden under the snow in a row.
The shop roof covered with snow in a row.

The storms that we were supposed to get never really materialized this past week.
We had more strong winds on Wednesday and Thursday and the storms stayed to the north of us.
It was cloudy most of yesterday and finally, late in the afternoon, it began to rain.
It rained most of the night.
It has rained briefly today and we even had about fifteen minutes of blowing snow.
Nothing major yet!
We need so much more than what we are getting at the moment!

Just a Titch

We woke up yesterday morning to a "titch" of snow on the ground.
Less than an inch!
This is the first snow of 2012.
Rather pathetic, but rather pretty to see!
We have not had any moisture in our area since the end of November!
Sunday brought high winds and blowing dust/sand to the area.
The winds ushered in a change in the pressure system and now the forecast is calling for additional storms to hit our area this week.
Only time will tell what they will actually bring in the way of much needed moisture!
Maybe just another titch...but a tad more would be helpful!

Since yesterday was MLK Day, I was off work.
So I didn't have to drive on icy roads!
I got to stay home and enjoy the warmth of a nice, cozy fire!

Watch Simon's Cat in "The Box"
It's sure to bring a chuckle or two!

Seriously, this is how it really is with cats!

Frozen Diamonds

The morning frost, frozen to the barren winter landscape, glistened like little diamonds in the early morning sun as I drove down our road on my way to work.
I had but a brief moment to stop and capture the beauty of the morning.
This was the only shot that seemed to capture through the lens what I was seeing with my eyes.

Blazing Winter Sky

The photos below are from yesterday evenings sunset!
It was amazing!
The cold, barren winter landscape was transformed, if only for a moment, into blazing, breathtaking beauty!
These shots were taken from my back steps, looking south and west.
As the sun continued its westward descent, the colors continued to change and deepen!

The Joy

Of a new toy is oh so fun!

First, you gotta get it out of the stocking.
So you pull and tug...
and drag the stocking back to your bed where you tug some more.
Finally the new toy is free.
You grab it, shake it, squeak it!
You run all over with it!
Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak...
 This goes on for hours...
squeak, squeak, squeak!
Must get in a good roll with the new heffie toy!
Awe yes, the simple joys of a new toy and the entertainment it brings...Priceless!

May the New Year be filled with many joyful moments!
