Canning, Sunsets & Colds

Yesterday, I finally got around to canning up some dilly tomatoes. I had been trying to recall for several days just where my canning kettle and lids were located. Countrychick and I finally went over to the storage van and we found them in the first tote we opened......Yipeeee. After a mishap and much grumbling on my part, I ended up with 4 quart jars and 3 half-pint jars of dilly tomatoes. My mom has been making dilly tomatoes off and on for years now.......I only hope my efforts will be as good as hers are. After cleaning up the mess in the kitchen, I plopped my fanny on the couch..........my head cold was making me feel lousy! Oh, I did get up off the couch to make a batch of homemade chicken noodle soup...........you know, to fight off the cold with. Just before we ate dinner, I happened to glance out the window to catch a glimpse of the scene below...........I trudged outdoors, snapped a few photos and headed back in. It was such a pretty sight to behold on a cool, crisp Fall evening............................Just look at that pretty pink sky.
I woke up this morning feeling like I had been pulled through I knot hole backwards................head colds are the pits! Do you see that cute little photo below with the cute design, pretty colors and the word "sweet" embossed on it............well I'm here to tell ya, there is nothing "sweet" about my head cold.............this box has been my trusty companion all day................pretty cute for a box of Kleenex wouldn't you agree...................Now please excuse me while I go blow my nose for the five thousandth time today.......................AaaaaaaaaaaaaaChooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Mmmmmmm....canned goods. Too much work for me, but I do enjoy the fruit of other people's labours.

Sorry to hear you've got a nasty cold.

Thanks for visiting my virtual home and for the lovely note you left about Goldie. Come back any time.

Those dillies look mighty yummy! You should try doing some okra with jalepenos. I think Dad would like that!

Take care of the cold. They are going around now!
love from your brother

p.s. I have enjoyed your series on the making of hay!

Hi Big Brother.......you find me some okra and peppers and I'll do the canning.........=)

My get well wish is late, but sincere, just the same. Hope you are feeling much better by now. A head cold is no fun.

Your dilly tomaters look great! Good for you to do that even though you didn't feel well. And, for catching the lovely sky scene as well!

What the heck is a dilly tomato?? Is that like a pickled tomato?? Do you eat them plain when you open them up??
