You Know You are Living in 2013 When...

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

13. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

14. You actually look back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list.

Evening Light

I took these photos on my way home from work yesterday evening.

They were all taken within a ten minutes span of each other.

As I continued my drive into our valley, the light just kept changing.

It made for a pretty and pleasant drive home.

 

Hungry Cat

Happy February!

Things have warmed up here a bit.

We hit 50 degrees yesterday!

The great "melt" has taken place and things are on the muddy side now.

I'm sure we will see more winter weather and snow, but for now, I'm going to enjoy the warmer temps.

If the groundhog is to be believed, we will have an early spring.

Time will tell.

 

How bout that Super Bowl Game.

Commercials were okay.

Loved the Clydesdale and Farmer commercials.

The go daddy commercial...totally DISGUSTING!

Ice Daggers

The photo was taken during our below freezing cold snap that lasted for three weeks.

These icicles formed over the door to my office.

Pretty and scary all at the same time.

Didn't want one of them falling on my head! 

Where's the Road

Yesterday morning I awoke to the wind blowing hard.

We were supposed to get a storm over night that would bring snow.

I looked out the kitchen window and there really wasn't much new snow to speak of.

I got ready for work.

Just before leaving the house my phone rang, it was Kristee letting me know that the schools were on a two hour delay due to the weather conditions.

I asked, "what weather conditions?"

She then told me that town received a lot of snow over night and the roads and hwy were a mess!

 

Hubby said not to worry, as he was heading to town early for parts, and would behind me all the way.

So we headed out.

As we started the climb out of the valley, the snow got deeper and deeper.

Nobody else had been over the road yet and I was in the lead.

 

 

I got to the top of the hill and started down the other side.

I knew I was on the road, but you couldn't see it!

It was solid snow from edge to edge!

I kind of felt like Louis and Clark...forging ahead into the unknown.

I stopped at the end of the road so I could get out and wipe off my tail lights as they were covered in packed snow.

Hubby pulled up behind me and asked if I was having a problem coming down the hill cause I was all over the road. He was laughing!

"No problem" I said, "just couldn't see the damn road!



 

The hwy was slick, so the rest of the drive to town and work was on the slow side.

We were pretty shocked when we got to town and saw all of the snow!

And what a mess!

The storm really dumped a load over most of town.

Some areas got only a few inches, while other areas got up to 12 inches!

We had 8 inches at my office!

The Does

The deer have been hanging out in the snow covered fields at the end of our valley.

They are mostly groups of does, but every now and then a buck or two will make an appearance. 

They are watchful and always on alert.

I usually see them on my morning and evening drive to and from work.

Cold and Quiet

The cold and below zero temps have persisted for weeks!

The fog rolls in every morning and blankets the valley in a cold, frosty quiet!

The chickadees work over the tumbleweeds to get at the seeds.

The little birds didn't even fly when I stopped to take this shot. 

I rolled down the window part way to snap the photo and that was a mistake as it didn't want to roll back up when I was done! 

The weatherman says a "warming" trend is on the way.

Our lows will hover in the teens and our highs will reach the 30's.

The 30's will feel like a heatwave! 

Ice Road

The snow we received at Christmas has stayed on the ground. 

We are moving into the the third week of January and not much of it has melted.

The temps plunged below zero at night and the single digits and low teens for two weeks.

This past week we had several days where the temps climbed into the low 30's.

A brief storm system moved through late on Wednesday and dumped a couple more inches of snow on us.

The temps have once again plunged us back into the "deep freeze."

It's a bitter cold! 

I am NOT a fan of driving on icy roads! 

Each morning I put on my brave face and get behind the wheel.

And tense up and cringe all the way to work! 

Black ice formed on our county road and the two-lane hwy this past Thursday and Friday as a result of the brief snow we received on Wednesday. 

Black ice is a friend to nobody! 

There were spin outs and accidents on my way to work on Thursday morning!

I'm kinda over winter already!

My drive to work has pretty much looked like this for several weeks now!

This is the "straight away" section on our county road.

 Then you round a few corners and start the climb up the "hill."

 You head up the road into the little canyon area before the "big" hill.

 You climbed up the hill, slowly...

 And hit the top and start the gradual decent to the hwy at the end of the road.

The view at the top can be pretty at times.

The morning I took these photos, there was a light fog hanging in the air.

As a side note,

I have tired to compose a post for over a week now, but I could not get my photos to upload.

I tried using two different computers and finally hit the jackpot with the third.

Not sure if the issue is on Bloggers end or mine.
