Who puts a new metal roof on a house in sub zero temps!
Apparently we do!
The job was started last Friday before the storm hit us.
The guys got half of the new metal roof on before the snow fell.
It snowed Friday night and early Saturday morning.
The amount of snowfall we received required snow removal from said roof!
The guys doing the job drove the thirty miles out to our place to get up on the roof and sweep it off!
Hubby has been helping as well.
Every time they go up on the roof, I cringe!
Today they came out to finish the job!
It was -26 degrees this morning!
Talk about dedicated roofers!
Dedicated and really wanted and needed to get the job done!
I ran out to snap a few photos and then ran back inside where it was warm!
It was -18 when I took this shot and they had just started on the second half of the roof.
Things were rather slick, so maneuvering the sheets of metal was tricky!
Everyone came in at lunch to warm up.
We have kept the fire going in the fireplace to help warm the roof and the guys gather around the pipe coming out of the roof to warm their hands.
One of the guys almost went off the roof just before lunch!
Only a few more hours and they should be done!
Who does crazy stuff like this in sub zero temps!
Apparently we do!
Job completed!
Everyone safe!
Roof looks great!

Brrrrr! I have never known that kind of cold and hope I don't.
Love your fireplace.
So glad everyone made it down safe and hopefully are nice and warm now.
I guess your cold weather is headed my way, according to the weather reports anyway. It has been very cold here also.
Hi there! You left a comment on Ann's Reading Corner about the teaser from my memoir and I wanted to stop and say hello and thank you! And you don't have to go far to track down my book! LOL
I absolutely love the photos and quotes on your blog. I'll come back sometime when I'm not falling asleep at my laptop. It's after 1:00am here and even though I'm both a night owl AND an early riser...I'm gettin' pretty sleepy!
Wow! What desert are you in with -26 temps????? Wow! Ick! I was cranky because it got down to 29 here! LOL
PS I like your header photo--are those stacks of hay in the distance?
Apparently you're not the only one.
My neighbor started replacing his Mediterranean tile roof in early November...about 2 weeks before we received a foot of snow here in NM. It took 2 weeks for the snow to melt because of our single digit and negative zero temps.
We thought the roofing guys would be back out to get the roof completed before the next storm hit us last week and dumped another 8" on us, but instead they seem to be MIA.
I feel bad for our elderly neighbors who are having to go through snow storms and freezing temps with only blue plastic on their roof for over a month.
At least your roofers are getting your new roof done quickly and efficiently before more winter storms blow in.
