Mirror Image

This photo is the original blog header that I started out with in 2008.
It's still a part of my header because I love it so much!

This is a straight out of the camera shot!
It was taken on an August evening in 2008.
I had just delivered a couple of cold drinks to Hayman and a friend down at the south end of our valley.
They had been working on a baler that had broken down.
On my drive back up the valley to our house I just happened to look in my drivers side mirror and saw this beautiful view behind me. The colors of the sky are what made me stop the car.
I grabbed my camera and started to get out of the car, but stopped. There was something about the view in the mirror that just needed to be captured. So I gave the mirror a good rubbing with a Kleenex I had handy and then tilted it until you could no longer see any part of the car. Then I put the camera lens up to the mirror and snapped away. The first few shots were rather blurry and I realized that the vibration from the running vehicle were causing a bit of motion when I snapped the shutter, so I turned off the car. The light continued to change and I was afraid I was not going to get a good shot. I focused and steadied the camera again and snapped more photos. I looked through them quickly, but wasn't sure what I really had until I got home and uploaded them to the computer.
I was amazed at how well one of the photos turned out and that is how this photo became a part of my blog.
I think we have some of the prettiest evening skies in Nevada.
The landscape can be harsh and times, but then in the blink of an eye, the slightest change can bring soft light and a scene so beautiful that if you are not paying attention, you will miss altogether!

Literally, a journey down the gravel roads of life. Lovely photo and good for you for noticing the beauty around you...and in your rear view mirror.

Yes, the scene is very beautiful and I would have never guessed it came from a mirror!
