Hear Ye, Hear Ye

Read all about it!
It's OFFICIAL!
Country Chic passed her drivers test on Tuesday morning!
She can legally terrorize...um, I mean drive the roads without a parent in the car!
Hip, Hip, Hooray!

Country Chic had her permit for over a year. In fact, it had to be renewed in February since we knew she wouldn't take her drivers test before it expired due to the lack of an available appointment in our town!
We had to travel five hours to another town in order for her to take the driving portion of the test!
Five hours, one way, through no-mans land!
Our local DMV has been understaffed since early last fall and was booking appointments two months out for the drivers part of the test. We had been trying to make an apt. since last fall!
Finally, we just gave up and made an appointment with the DMV that had the earliest available time slot, which turned out to be in Ely, NV which is five hours southeast of us!
We left on Monday and drove in rain, hail, light snow and more rain. Got to Ely in the late afternoon which gave us enough time to check-in to our hotel and then go driving about town so Country Chic could get use to the area.
Woke up Tuesday morning to a light dusting of snow and strong winds! Did a bit more driving around town before the test and then headed off to the DMV.
We arrived before her scheduled appointment time and only had to wait about ten minutes.
We had to fill out some paperwork and then she headed off with the test instructor.
I brought a book to read while waiting. I must have read the same paragraph ten times, couldn't seem to concentrate! I think I was more nervous than she was!
They returned after only fifteen minutes of driving and when she walked through the door she gave me the "yes" head nod and a big smile!
We finished up the paperwork, had her photo taken and that was it...done, over, complete!
We piled back into the car and headed out on the five hour drive home....with a headwind all the way!

Congratulations Country Chic!
I am very proud of YOU!

Yeah Country Chic!

Now she has her very own---"When I was your age I had to drive 5 hours both ways in the snow with headwinds" story to tell her kids when they want to drive!

Can't believe you had to go through all that--you are BOTH amazing!

Wow that is alot to go through for your license but any 16 year old would do it hands down!

Congratulations to Country Chic - I'm sure she'll be tearing up the country roads - going the speed limit of course! Ha ha

Wow! And such perseverance and dedication having to drive 5 hours to get 'er done, too!

Read a book? Not. I would have been a nervous wreck, too.
I am trying not to think of my twin sons going through this driving phase in a couple more years...gah! I hope I look pretty with grey hair. :D
