First Horse Show

Country Chic competed in her first horse show on Saturday.
We traveled to Lemmon Valley which is located just outside of Reno for the show.
It was a long day, but very, very rewarding!

Please bare with me as I'm a very proud momma and plan to share all I can about the show.

Country Chic and another young lady from our local 4-H riding group both competed in this show.
The show was for Novice Riders and Green Horses, meaning that the rider or the horse could not have won more than three blue ribbons in any class at any prior show. Not a problem for Country Chic as she has never been in another horse show up until now. She has only been riding on a regular basis for a month and two weeks!

Doing a little lunge line work to warm up Gizmo before the events start.

The first class of the day was a novice showmanship class. The girls were ready and at the gate awaiting to enter the arena.

Country Chic and Gizmo getting ready to head towards the judge.
 Moving out at a trot.
Watching the judge as she does her inspection.
Country Chic placed second in the showmanship class! She did an amazing job!

The next two classes were Novice Western Seat Equitation and Novice Western Pleasure.
Country Chic and Gizmo worked well together and looked great.
 Working at the jog.
 Awaiting the judges placements.
Country Chic received a second place in Western Seat Equitation.
And a fourth place in Western Pleasure.
Gizmo got a little ahead of her and she had to get him under control which she did very nicely, but the judge was watching the entire time, so it dropped their placing.
 Trail class was up next.
Country Chic and Gizmo did awesome!
I ran out of room on my SD card and couldn't find another one in time to get more photos of the trail class.

They took first in the trail class!
They Rocked!!
Second place for showmanship! WOOT!

The afternoon classes consisted of Gymkhana events.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post...

i LOVE that you are a proud mama!
And can I just say,, I LOVE Country Chic's shirt??!! ( I know, random)

I think she is so brave for doing all this. I was always so sure I would mess up that I found it hard to try new things when I was her age.

Go Country Chic!

That last photo makes me smile HUGE! Even Gizmo looks proud of a job well done.
Has he competed before and won ribbons? He seems like the perfect been there done that horse for Country Chic to learn on and build skills and confidence. I noticed the freeze mark on his neck. Is he a mustang?

I really like seeing the kids all wearing helmets while competing, too. Even in Western Pleasure, they still look great and appropriate.

Well done...and you should be stinkin' proud! I would be, too! :)
