Country Chick is taking a horsemanship project through 4-H this year.
She is using a friends daughters' horse. Meet Gizmo. He is a remarkable horse!
The riding began this past week.
There was a bit of riding on Friday evening so that Gizmo and Country Chick could get to know each other better. They had been trying to ride for several weeks, but the weather hasn't been all that cooperative.
They did a little rail work in the round-pen
The last time Country Chick was on a horse she was 10!
It didn't take her long at all to settle in and get comfortable in the saddle.
I think Country Chick and Gizmo are going to work nicely together.
Someone was a bit sore the next day!
We spent all day Saturday afternoon at the arena in town working on ground work and getting to know the other riders and horses in the group. (I am the county 4-H program manager, so I was on site to observe the leader and group as a whole)
The group will meet weekly for instruction. Country Chick will work with her leader and ride Gizmo several days a week.
Be on the look out for more Country Chick and Gizmo updates!

I can't wait! How exciting for Country Chic. She looks great on Gizmo. But you know I had to go look out my window towards the barn to make sure my Apache mare is still there. Gizmo and Apache could pass as twins!

You make it feel like Spring for sure! They DO look good together and I hope they have a great season together!
How lucky she is! Lots of fun ahead for her and Gizmo.
I wish she were closer...I have four that need riding!
