Meet the Baby

This is Zadie May. She was the last chick to hatch at my office on Thursday. All of the other chicks left early on Thursday for their new home. I brought Zadie May home on Thursday evening. She is very, very vocal and active. Do we know for sure that she is a she? The answer to that is no. But we are hoping that the little chick is a she, hence the name Zadie May. We borrowed the name Zadie. My sister has a friend who has a dog that is named Zadie. I believe it means "fortunate one" in Arabic and it also means "Princess" in Old English. Little Zadie is very fortunate that she came to live with us. You can't get any better than having Countrychick and Deserthen as your "chicken momma's." In the video, you will hear Zadie May peeping away. You will also hear a cooing sound in the background...that is Countrychick doing her "chicken whisperer" thing with Zadie. Countrychick can actually put Zadie to sleep with the cooing sounds. Hens will cluck and thrill to their babies and Countrychick can mimic those sounds very well. You will also hear music playing in the background. We leave the music on so Zadie will not feel alone and she also has a stuffed chick to snuggle with. See, I told you Zadie was very fortunate to come live with us. She will be one very spoiled little chick!

That's just too cute. If you hadn't told us I would have thought that was a real chicken in the background. Way to go Countrychick. You make a great baby chicken mama.

How cute! We have one chicken on the farm that thinks I am its momma or something...it is one of those with the crazy feathers on its head...my mama gave her to me...when she hears me talking she runs to me...Dr. Hubby thinks that is hilarious...he says I am loud and shrill voiced.

That baby chick is one cute chick. I once raised a baby duck that the mother left in the nest after all the rest had hatched. She took the other babies to the pond, but left this one in the nest to die, so my husband brought it in the house for me to raise. I use to fill the sink with water every day and let it swim around. Baby chicks are just so cute, have fun raising your chick....

"One of a kind, a pair of fools", eh?

Countrychick is very convincing, I'd say. And, "Zadie" is a really cute name....I've not heard it before. Have fun with her/him!

Cute little chickie.
Daughter's cooing was nice too. Almost put me to sleep. Maybe I am a chicken.

Well I know I'm typing this at 2am, but I felt my eyes getting heavy and my heartbeat slowing...and my head started to knod. Whew! That Country Chic is one soothing gal. Will she come over here to help me sleep so I don't have to take anymore Ambien?

That is one lucky..and adorable little chicky!
