Meet the Curlew family!
They paid us a visit in late May.
(Yes, this post has been sitting in my drafts since then, forgotten, until today)
My daughter and I heard a strange sound coming from outside, so we got up and opened the door to see what is was.
At first I saw nothing and walked to the edge of the patio to further investigate.
That's when I saw these two little birds.
They were making a racket and putting up quite the fuss.
The reason for all the noise...they had three little babies!
They were moving them from the hay field by our house to another location.
The move and noise went on for over an hour!
And then...they were gone.
They were fascinating and fun to watch.
None of the shots of the babies turned out as they blended in with their surroundings.
They have very good camouflage.

What an unusual bird. never heard of them before. you should post them on Wild Bird Wednesday
Amazing! I have never seen one.
Yes Woven, they are very unusual to look at. Their long, curled bill is amazing to see up close. Where might I find Wild Bird Wednesday? Is it linked to a blog?
It's always exciting to see a new bird, isn't it? I've never seen this kind before! That big long beak is something else!
Amazing...I've never seen or heard of this bird. I listened to their sound on the site you send us to. I think an hour of listening to that I would have been ready to wave good-bye until the next time.
Cool! Glad you shared this with all! Don;t think I've seen them before either! (what's reallyyyyyy surprising, Lady....is you are still in the same 'place'! You've moved almost as much as us...and yet since I've "met" you....you've stayed put and we've moved 4 times!!!)
