She waited alone at the end of the feeder.
He arrived in a timely fashion.
After a meal, he bought her a drink and one thing led to another.
Gasp!
(Close your eyes! Don't look!)
He was pretty darn proud of himself!
At the end of the evening...she was alone once again!
Last week I was in the right spot at the right time when these Killdeer birds decided to gift me with their courting and mating ritual.
I lay flat on on my tummy on the cement slab just off the grass area at my office to capture these shots.
I had to extend the zoom on my camera as far as it would go and keep a steady hand.
I was pleased with the results!
This pair has nested across the street in the junk yard. I saw them this morning running across the road. It will be interesting to see if they bring any babies to visit the lawn in the coming weeks.

How awesome is this? Homemade bird porn! Thankfully, he seems the type to at least call her the next day when he says he will : )
I'm sure glad we female humans don't have to carry the weight of a male human on our backs during our own mating rituals!
Amazing photos all!

LOL... I'm laughing at all the comments this one received. I don't think I can add to what they have all said.
I think I am getting lazy when it comes to visiting. Or maybe I am to busy reading now days. Anywho, thanks for your visits. ; )
I must say you have shown me something I have never ever seen!!! I have seen turtles, snakes, bugs and the usual farm animals but this goes in my FIRSTS book for my life time.
Awesome catch.
