I have to admit I am stumped by headers which is why I leave mine alone and just change the picture - ha ha. If you get it figured out please post a tutorial!! Good Luck!
I'm not much better. I have to actually be doing the html and adjustments to figure it out. Trying to explain it all, I'm no good at.
Basically, though, you're going to want to tweak the size by going into your Design section. That can be a little more complicated when you're messing with html, though....
Or you could also go on say, Picnik, and upload your image there for editing, and click the resize button....you might have to do it several times as you upload and reload the image to your blog to make sure it's the correct size.
