Last week was a tough one for our little town! There were two events at the local high school that took everyone by surprise! An attempted suicide on Monday has left a beautiful, bright and talented young lady in critical condition! On Friday after school a young man took his own life! He will be laid to rest today! The incidents were not related, but bullying was the root cause of both!
I know what it is like to be bullied even by those that you thought were your friends. Painfully shy child equals target for school bullies! The words of others can last a lifetime if we let them! IF WE LET THEM...those are the key words! The bullies win if we carry those words and memories through life with us. I learned long ago to let that stuff go.
But for others...it is not so easy to do!
People have no clue how the cruel and hurtful words they say out of jealously and spite wound the hearts of those they say them about!
Countrychick said it well on her Facebook page last week..."Some people just don't realize the affect that their words can have on another person do they? You should never bully someone or start rumors just because you're jealous of something they have. There's a good chance that they worked hard to achieve it! So think before you speak. 'Cause once it's said, the damage your words could do can never be undone. "
My daughter is a beautiful, gentle soul and I'm proud of her for taking a stand and speaking out!
She also posted this song on her Facebook page. A song that I had not heard in years, but fits the situation so very well!

Beautiful song. Thanks for sharing it Sharon. This world is such a sad and scary place. I am teriffied about what it will be like when my children are in highschool! Prayers for Jordan and her family.
That is such sad news. It seems to be happening more and more.
There are no words to properly express the tragedy in this.
My home life was bad enough. There was nothing my peers could do to top it. I guess that's what they call a silver lining.
How beautiful our differences are. I've never heard this song. It's lovely.
So so sad. I am always so sad when kids or anyone for that matter feel things are so bad that they have to take their own lives. My nephew did this several years ago and you never get over it. Love that song and your daughter seems like a lovely girl.
